Hainan Golf Open Sets Sights on 1.1 Million Dollar Reward Potential

Recently, according to a spokesperson from the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Film, and Television and Sports, the department has issued the "Implementation Rules for the Rewards of Five Key Sports Events in Hainan Province" (hereinafter referred to as the "Implementation Rules"). These rules outline that operating entities of events such as the Hainan Island International Road Cycling Race may receive rewards up to a maximum of 15.5 million yuan. Notably, the Hainan Golf Open offers a one-time reward potential of up to 1.1 million US dollars. The "Implementation Rules" take effect immediately upon issuance and will remain valid until December 31, 2025. Following each event, operating units can submit their reward application materials through the "Hai Yi Dui" platform.

In terms of competition rules:
(I) The rules adhere to the 2016-2019 version of the "Golf Rules" approved by the China Golf Association and jointly promulgated by R&A Rules Co., Ltd. and the United States Golf Association. Additionally, they incorporate "Competition Conditions" and "Local Rules" formulated by the Competition Committee.
(II) The competition format is a 3-round (54-hole) stroke play event. Final rankings are determined based on total scores over three rounds, with ties resolved through sudden-death playoffs if necessary.
(III) For men's participants, specific elimination criteria apply depending on participation numbers. Women's participants also have distinct qualifying thresholds based on their numbers.
(IV) In exceptional circumstances like adverse weather conditions, the organizing committee retains the authority to adjust promotion qualifications based on on-site conditions.

Regarding qualifications:
Athletes must meet the amateur status requirements outlined in the 2016-2019 "Golf Rules" jointly issued by R&A Rules Co., Ltd. and the United States Golf Association, as well as the Interim Provisions on Amateur Status of Coaches by the China Golf Association. Participants include champions from various qualifying tournaments, recommended amateur players, and wildcard entries based on sponsorship recommendations. Open registration is available for players meeting specific handicap criteria.
